Privacy

If you just browse

Nothing to opt into: Anecdote runs no advertising, no analytics and no third-party trackers. The site stores small technical preferences (like your light/dark theme choice and cached catalogue data) in your own browser's local storage — this data never leaves your device and you can clear it any time through your browser settings.

If you create an account

• What we store: your email address, a securely hashed password, and the content you save on purpose — boards, saved works, notes and game scores.
• Where it lives: in a database operated by Supabase, hosted in the United States (AWS us-west-2). By creating an account you consent to this transfer.
• What it's used for: signing you in and syncing your saves across devices. Nothing else — no marketing emails, no sharing with third parties, no profiling.
• Sharing: boards stay private unless you press Share, which publishes a snapshot of that board (never your email) at a link you control.
• Deleting: you can delete your account and everything attached to it yourself, at any time, from your profile's Account & security section. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Your rights

You can request a copy, correction or deletion of your data at any time via the contact address above. Since the only personal data held is what's listed here, most requests are settled by the in-product account deletion.

Terms of use

• Anecdote is an educational reference, offered free and as-is, without any warranty of accuracy, availability or fitness for a purpose. Entries are editorial summaries written for study and commentary.
• The written entries, research notes and the site's design are the operator's work. You're welcome to read, share links and quote briefly with attribution; wholesale copying of the catalogue is not.
• Photographs of works remain the property of their respective rights holders and are shown for identification and study with source attribution — see Image credits & takedown.
• Accounts that abuse the service (spam, scraping, attempting to access others' data) may be removed.
• These terms may be updated as the project evolves; continued use means acceptance of the current version.
